Crayon Pop will make their comeback this April without their helmets!

The girls that took over the K-Pop scene with “Bar Bar Bar”, Crayon Pop, are reported to be getting ready to start another dance craze with their comeback this April!

A rep from Chrome Entertainment is said to have told Star News for their exclusive report, “Crayon Pop are going full speed ahead in their album production with the goal of early April… They are preparing their first full-length album… Although there can be slight changes to the release date due to their various domestic schedules, they will make a comeback in April.”

“They are receiving songs from Kim Yoo Min, the composer of ‘Bar Bar Bar’, and other composers… Since it’s a full-length album, we are paying more attention to the song selection and thoroughly preparing for it.”

Regarding the concept this time around and whether the girls will be sporting their famous helmets, the rep apparently stated, “Although nothing has been decided yet, we will take on a different concept… Because we showed a lot of the helmet concept, the probability of using [the helmets] is little to none.”

Another rep spoke with ‘Sports Seoul' to confirm that an April comeback is indeed in the works, “We haven’t decided on the specific date and concept, but an album is planned to be released around April… We’re still in talks about a new concept, and we’re also not yet sure of how many songs will be included in the album.”

Crayon Pop attends press event and reveals future schedules with Kim Janghoon

Crayon Pop lovers, your favorite girls as you know has teamed up for a “project” that is named, “Korean Firefighter Project.” They are working with Kim Jang Hoon on this so that they can show their love towards the hardworking “firefighters.” The guys are brave to tackle huge fires and risking their lives to save people. So, Crayon Pop wants to show their gratitude. The name of their song is “Hero" which is perfect because "firefighters" are truly indeed hero’s. When a fire occurs, they will quickly come to the rescue and extinguish the fire. So, apparently, Crayon Pop has noticed that the guys are not getting enough love for the hard work that they do.

Why This Sudden Cause?

Stories from people can really get to you. If the story is touching, sometimes it will motivate you. This is what happened to Kim Jang Hoon. Kim is known in South Korea as the “Donation Angel” because he loves doing charity work in order to spread love across the provinces. Just seeing someone smile and knowing that you are doing a good cause, puts a smile on Kim’s face.

So, how did this love of doing charity happened? Well, it was during the year 2002. Kim explained regarding what happened during this year by saying, “Back in 2002 I had hurt my shoulder and while I was at the hospital getting treatment there was a man sitting next to me; the man was a firefighter.” Kim mentioned this last Wednesday during a “press conference” that was “held at the Press Center in Seoul.” Kim further goes on with the story by saying, “He told me that despite the difficult situations they face, they are all committed to their duty to protect and serve.”

With this sad touching story from the “firefighter,” Kim “made a promise” that he will do something so that people in South Korea will know that “firefighters” are brave and that they should get recognized for the dangerous work that they do. This is why Kim collaborated with female group Crayon Pop on this project; which is a tribute to the everyday “firefighters” who puts their lives at risk.

Press Event in Seoul

We have seen numerous costumes or wardrobes that Crayon Pop wears. So, it is no surprise that they will choose another stand-out one. The wardrobe are “loose red jackets and alarm sirens." They have replaced the helmets and the Christmas star for "alarm sirens."

The ladies last Wednesday held a “press event in Seoul” for fans. Reason for the event was because they wanted to announce their brand new single. So, with their cute wardrobes and all, the people that showed up to watch them were entertained.

Great Cause

Crayon Pop and with this project, are doing something by truly helping the “firefighters.” They want to let them know that the work they do is definitely not getting “unnoticed.” All “proceeds” will go to the people; firefighters who risks their lives. The proceeds that they give will definitely improve “working conditions;” which is why Crayon Pop initiated this project.

Along with the “working conditions,” funding of “scholarships” as well “donations” will go to the kids as well “families” who has lost their father while doing this dangerous job.

Another thing that Kim said at the “press conference” was, “Our local firefighters really are unsung heroes…you know the country has specialized hospitals for the police and soldiers, but we still don’t have a facility dedicated to our firefighters. This has been the most worthwhile, most tear jerking and most rewarding project that I have ever been involved with.”

The members of Crayon Pop also explained how they feel to be part of this great project by working with Kim. They said, “We are very honored to be a part of this project along with Kim Jang-hoon. For us to be able to show our support for these heroic firefighters through music, it’s such a wonderful feeling for us.”

Firefighters and Families are Invited to a Free Concert + Charity Concert Next Sunday

Last Sunday, at the Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Crayon Pop gave a “free concert” to “firefighters” as well “their families.” Including them, there were also various “rescue service workers” that came out since they were “invited.” Then on February 16, 2014 (Sunday), the girls along with Kim, are thinking about having a special “charity concert" which will be at the same location; only difference is that it will be at the Gymnastics Stadium.

Crayon Pop is helping out their community by doing this project as well giving proceeds that are earned. Such loving hearts from all of the members. This project is definitely getting noticed in South Korea and the “firefighters” are surely grateful on what Kim as well Crayon Pop are doing.

Two members of Crayon Pop rumored to release solo projects

In addition to their reported comeback in April, Crayon Pop is rumored to be working on solo projects with renowned composer Kim Do Hoon!

A music insider recently told MBN Star, "Crayon Pop will collaborate with composer Kim Do Hoon for a project digital release… Two members are set to take on solo tracks… The exact members have not been determined yet."

Kim Do Hoon is the composer behind hit songs including IU's “Every End of the Day" and "Marshmallow”, K.Will's “My Heart Beating”, “I Need You”, and “Love Blossom”, and more.

If the rumors are true, then it seems Crayon Pop will have even more opportunities to succeed their “Bar Bar Bar" phenomenon!

Crayon Pop’s Interview with Coup De Main

I’ve found myself in various social gatherings where I am inevitably isolated by someone - a friend, a stranger, a house cat - and met with one question: ”Uh, so how do I get into K-pop?”

Dear friends, strangers and house cats, today is a glorious day, for that question will be answered enthusiastically with graceful jumps: CRAYON POP!

Crayon Pop is comprised of five super cool female members: leader Gummi, fierce Ellin, powerfulSoyul and insanely cute twins, Cho-A and Way. Not only are their songs essential for any and every dance party (side note: trying to learn their choreography makes for an excellent afternoon), watching their performances and MVs on YouTube will lift your spirits and have you trading in your entire wardrobe for training suits and helmets (their signature style).

It was thrilling to ask them about their notorious guerrilla performances (which they’ve unleashed on streets around the world, surrounded by dancing and chanting fans), past K-pop idols they’ve admired, lollipops and more!  Crayon Pop provided 2013 with much needed positivity and I can’t wait for their unique brand of cheerful vibes to continue in 2014.

COUP DE MAIN: You are known for your guerilla performances, what is the most thrilling aspect of the guerilla for you?
CRAYON POP:
Guerilla performances have its own particular appeal. Street itself is a limitless stage and the pedestrians are the audience. Direct communication with pedestrians on their point of view and the unique animation of guerilla performances are the main reason.

CDM: You have the coolest boombox ever, where did you find it?  Did you decorate it?
CRAYON POP:
We’ve looked in every single market and we’ve put so much effort into it. And yes, we decorated it ourself.

CDM: How does the energy from your street performances compare to the energy of your stage performances?
CRAYON POP:
No matter where, what, who, we’re always pleasure to perform and we absorb same amount of energy as long as people are enjoying watching us.

CDM: ‘Bar Bar Bar’ is a revolution! How do you feel emotionally when you are jumping?
CRAYON POP:
Throughout the whole stage, we get most of the attention especially when we are jumping. And it makes us feel more comfortable and light enough to jump more.

CDM: Is it important to stretch before jumping?
CRAYON POP:
Sometimes we get leg aches, so it is important to stretch before performance.

CDM: Have you ever fallen asleep while wearing your helmets?
CRAYON POP:
No. We have not.

CDM: Your unique uniforms are incredible in every form - from your hanbok over your training pants to the capes you donned at MAMA 2013 - what has been your favourite uniform to wear so far?
CRAYON POP:
The orange uniform we used to wear during ‘Dancing Queen’ would be our favorite. It really is comfy and easy to move around. Additionally, that uniform was our very first uniform and still reminds us the beginning of ‘Crayon Pop’ and the guerilla performances.

CDM: Who were your favorite K-Pop idols growing up (or now)?
CRAYON POP: S.E.S
We grew up watching senior girl group K-POP singers, ‘S.E.S’ and ‘Finkle’.

CDM: Who do you love more: Justin Bieber or One Direction?
CRAYON POP:
This question is extremely hard to choose one or another. Both Justin Bieber and One Direction are very talented musicians and we respect them.

CDM: What is the best hairstyle to sing and dance in?
CRAYON POP:
‘Helmet’ is the best style ever!

CDM: Your song “Dancing Queen” is very special - is “dancing in the moonlight” the best way to destroy a sad feeling?
CRAYON POP:
Whenever you feel lonely and sad, we recommend you to dance in the moonlight with ‘Dancing Queen’ on. We sometimes dance to it with the song on in our lodge.

CDM: Way sometimes eats a lollipop during the ‘Bing Bing’ performance - do you each have a favourite lollipop flavour?
CRAYON POP:
Yes. Chocolate and strawberry flavours are Way’s favourite.

CDM: Where do you most want to travel to next?
CRAYON POP:
We’d love to explore Europe. We heard we have a big fandom in Europe but we’ve never had a chance to meet them.

CDM: How does it feel to be true icons of positivity for girls young and old across the world?
CRAYON POP:
Our strength is the true positive energy. It is our goal to give all the special positive energy to every single person who has come to see us and it would be worthwhile to do.

Watch an adorable little greeting from Crayon Pop here!

Crayon Pop’s signed helmet records highest bidding for charity auction

The March 6 broadcast of MBC’s special live show, “Helping Myanmar Children – Hold a Hand of Hope,” saw the results of auctions in which celebrities participated by donating their items in order to help the children in Myanmar.

Among celebrities Girl’s Day, M (Lee Min Woo), Yeo Jin Goo, B.A.P, Lee Da Hae, A-Pink, BTOB, SISTAR, Park Suh Joon, Crayon Pop, and Ji Chang Wook, girl group Crayon Pop recorded the highest bid.
