CHỦ ĐIỂM 1: CÁC THÌ (TENSES)
A/ CÁC THÌ HIỆN TẠI
1.The Simple Present (Hiện tại đơn)
S + V / V (S/ES)
a)Diễntả một sự thật hiển nhiên, một điều đúng trong thực tế. e.g The earth goes round the sun.
Asian people grow rice for food.
b)Diễntả một trạng thái ở hiện tại e.g. I know many things about him
c) Diễn tả một thói quen ở hiện tại.
e.g. I always have bread and tea for breakfast.
Cách dùng này thường được dùng với các trạng từ: Always,usually, generally, normally, regularly, frequently, often, repeaedly,sometimes, occasionally, hardly ever, rarely, seldom, never và các cụm từ oncea week, twice a year, three times a day …
2. Thì present Continuous (Hiện tại tiếp diễn)
S + AM / IS / ARE + V_ING
a)Diễn tả một sự kiện đang diễn ra ngay tại thời điểm nói chuyện.
e.g. She is writing a letter at the moment.
Cách dùng này thường được dùng cới các trạng từ chỉ thời gian như now, at the moment, at present.
b)Diễn tả một sự kiện đang diễn ra ở hiện tại, nhưng không nhất thiết đang diễn ra tại thời điểm nói chuyện.
e.g. Kim is writing another novel this year.
I am facing a lot of trouble this semester.
c)Bày tỏ một sự phàn nàn khi được dùng với các trạng từ always, continually.
e.g. You are always making noise in class
Diễn tả một sự thay đổi
e.g. The weather is getting hotter and hotter
Exercise:
Put the verb into the simple present or the present continuous tense:
1. Is Danny all right today? He _____(seem) very tired.

3. Thì Present Perfect (Hiện tại hoàn thành)
S + Have/ Has + PP
a)Diễn tả một sự kiện đã diễn ra tại một thời điểm không xác định trong quá khứ ( được xem như là một kinh nghiệm trong đời hay một việc đã thực hiện)
e.g. Have you ever talked to a TV star? – No, I haven’t.
I’ve already bought a new car.
Cách dùng này thường được dùng với các trạng từ ever, never, already, yet
b) Diễn tả một sự kiện vừa mới xảy ra. Thường dùng với trạng từ just.
e.g. Danny has just called me from Itally.
c) Diễn tả một sự kiện lặp đi lặp lại (nhưng không phải là một thói quen).
e.g. I have watched that film 4 times.
d) Diễn tả một sự kiện bắt đầu từ quá khứ và kéo dài tới hiện tại.
e.g. She has read this book for a week.
Cách dùng này thường được dùng với các giới từ và trạng từ since, for, so far,…
e) Diễn tả một sự kiện đã hoàn tất trong quá khứ nhưng kết quả của hành động đó vẫn còn ảnh hưởng đến hiện tại.
e.g. She has sold her car. Now, she takes the bus to work every day.
Sorry, but all of them have gone home. Nobody can help you now.
4. thì Perfect Continuous (Hiện tại hoàn thành tiếp diễn)
S + HAVE / HAS + BEEN + V_ing
a) Diễn tả một sự kiện bắt đầu từ quá khứ và kéo dài liên tục đến hiện tại.
e.g He has been waiting for you for three hours. Will you meet him now?
Cách dùng này thường hay dùng với các giới từ và trạng từ như since, for, so far.
b)Diễn tả một sự kiện vừa mới kết thúc ở quá khứ nhưng kết quả của hành động đó vẫn còn ảnh hưởng tới hiện tại.
e.g You’re out of breath. Have you been running up here?
I’ve been eating a lot. I can’t have any more now.
