Olly Murs nổi lên từ show truyền hình X-Factor của Anh năm 2009. Anh là người được giải á quân trong show, xếp sau Joe McElderry. Anh có thể hát, đàn ghita và dùng trống. Anh hiện đang là nghệ sĩ của Epic Records của Anh, Columbia Records ở Mỹ và Syco Music.
Từ năm 2010, anh bắt đầu nổi lên với single đầu tay "Please don't let me go" đạt được number 1 trên bảng sếp hạng của Anh, vượt qua single "Teenage Dream" của Katy Perry. Tháng 11 năm 2010 anh phát hành album đầu tay mang tên "Olly Murs",  là album debut bán chạy nhất tuần đầu tiên phát hành trong năm 2010 với 108,000 copies được bán ra. Từ 2011 đến nay anh đã ra mắt thêm 2 album: "In case you don't know" và "Right place right time". Cả 2 album đều được yêu thích với các single: "In case you don't know", "Dance with me tonight" - #1 bảng xếp hạng single của Anh, "Oh my Goodness", "Heart skips a beat", "Troublemaker" cùng với Flo Rida, và gần đây nhất là "Army of Two".
Anh đang chuẩn bị rất kỹ lưỡng cho single thứ 3 của album " Right place right time", "Dear Darling" sẽ được ra mắt vào ngày 14/5/2013.
Tháng 11 năm nay anh sẽ có chuyến lưu diễn tại một số thành phố tại Úc.

- Mặc dù nổi lên từ chương trình X-Factor, Olly luôn muốn khẳng định là một nghệ sĩ thực thụ. Anh nói năm 2011 là năm khó khăn nhất về mặt âm nhac mà anh từng có. Anh nói "Bạn phải có niềm đam mê, tài năng và biết được trọng tâm của nơi bạn muốn đi, bạn có thể có tất cả những tài năng mà bạn muốn trên thế giới, nhưng nếu bạn không làm việc hăng say vì nó, nó sẽ không bao giờ tìm đến với bạn".

- NĂm 2012, Olly bắt đầu những chuyến lưu diễn đầu tiên của mình. Và vé để đi đến tour diễn 2013 của anh ở Anh (và Úc) đã được bán!!

- Sau khi đã được thành công vang dội trên thị trường UK, Olly tiếp tục oanh tạc Mỹ với chuyến lưu diễn của One Direction, nơi anh là người mở màn cho ban nhạc này. Anh nói với BBC Breakfast rằng anh rất muốn được trở thành thành viên thứ 6 của ban nhạc (please DON'T).

- Olly rất cởi mở về tình yêu của mình, anh thú nhận rằng đang sợ sẽ không tìm thấy tình yêu và đang đi kiếm tìm tình yêu ở khắp nơi. Anh còn nói bóng gió về việc sẽ xuất hiện ở show Take Me Out (hẹn hò em/anh đi) của ITV để tìm kiếm một người bạn đời hoàn hảo.

- Olly đã phát hành album thứ 3 Right Place Right Time vào tháng 11, cùng với cuốn tự truyện Happy Days. Anh nói quyển sách sẽ đưa đến cho bạn những sự thật hậu trường của cuộc đời anh để đưa anh vào với thế giới nghệ thuật nơi mà anh vẫn tìm kiếm bấy lâu nay.
